报告会主题
If wed used the cloud, we might know where MH370 is now

The recent tragic accidents to MH17 and MH370 remind us how important it is to monitor the aviation security for passenger carriers. We are not quite safe when flying in the sky because of many uncontrollable uncertainties in weather, society and politics, which are beyond the control variables in engineering and physics. Traditional flight data recorder in cockpit (i.e. blackbox) technology is not sufficient to perform a live incidence response. In this talk, I am presenting a position to change all that by using cyber-physical verification on top of cloud computing, on the basis of the successful application of cloud computing and crowdsourcing in similar fields.

特约讲者简介:

Dr. Yijun Yu is a Senior Lecturer at the Open University in UK. He is interested in developing automated and efficient Software Engineering (SE) techniques. His recent work on “Adaptive Twin Peaks” lays a technical foundation to this proposal, e.g., detecting meaningful change patterns from heterogeneous programming languages, developing instant awareness of changes through bidirectional, and generative transformations or adaptive user interfaces. He is a PI for various successful knowledge transfer projects at RealTelecom, Huawei, IBM, and also a co-investigator on a number of projects, including: Adaptive Security And Privacy (ERC Advanced Grant 291652, 2012-2017), Relating Requirements and Designs of Adaptive Information Systems (QNRF, 2012-2015), Lifelong Security Engineering for Evolving Systems (2009-2011), Usable Privacy for Mobile Apps (Microsoft SEIF, 2012). BBC Radio 4 Today programme interviewed him on the vision of applying Cloud Computing to improve Aviation Security. He received two Best Paper Awards (ACM EICS'13, IEEE TrustCom'14) and three Distinguished Paper Awards (IEEE RE'11, BCS'08, ACM SigSoft ASE'07). He is an Associate Editor of the Software Quality Journal, Secretary of BCS Specialist Group on Requirements Engineering, and serves on programme committees of international conferences on Requirements Engineering (RE'10-13) and Software Maintenance (CSMR'12-14, ICSM'10).
